Moritz von Bomhard Theater, The Kentucky Center
The Bomhard Theater, named for the man who helped organize and nurture opera in Louisville a half-century ago, provides a more intimate, though no less thrilling venue than its sister stage, Whitney Hall. With 619 seats, the Bomhard is an ideal facility for musical performances and smaller-scale dance and theater. It also serves as the home for Stage One, Louisville’s Family Theater. Steeply raked aisles provide a clear view of the stage from any seat. Of particular interest is the dramatic stage backdrop, the artwork Orchestra Luna by Kentucky artist Rodney Hatfield/ARTSNAKE.
The Moritz von Bomhard Theater is a dynamic venue. It is a non-union house, also has an extensive technical inventory and a flat fee schedule that does not include theater services such as ticketing and house management.
