The Kentucky Center is much more than a performance venue. The Kentucky Center partners with schools, teachers, community centers, colleges and universities, health care facilities, artists and performing arts centers throughout the Commonwealth to provide on-site immersive arts experiences and resources to audiences of all ages and backgrounds. The Kentucky Center is committed to fulfilling its statewide mission through outstanding programs that help build bridges of access and understanding to the arts.

The Kentucky Center’s Education & Community Arts programs serve as a catalyst and leader for arts education and community arts activities throughout Kentucky.

The Center’s nationally recognized programs include Arts in Healing, ArtsReach, School Programs and Governor’s School for the Arts. Through these programs, the Center served 25,000 patrons in 2012 through its Education & Community Arts mission, directly serving 10,000 young people in hands-on arts instruction, performance opportunities and ticket subsidies.

Time and again, reports confirm that arts education improves student performance in every aspect of their education and their lives, from cognitive development to socialization, from problem-solving to critical thinking. The arts teach leadership, discipline, creativity and confidence.

This evidence is seen in the programs of The Kentucky Center. The arts education programs of The Kentucky Center are essential programs that help to place The Kentucky Center at the forefront of educational leadership in the Commonwealth. These programs have been recognized nationally and internationally, and reported on in both arts and education journals.
