EDUCATION plays a pivotal role in The Kentucky Center’s statewide mission:
The mission of The Kentucky Center for the Performing Arts is to provide artistically diverse performances of the highest quality. The Center serves Kentucky through education and initiatives which expand and diversify audiences while enhancing their understanding, appreciation and support for the arts. The Center strives to challenge, stimulate, and entertain while operating in a fiscally responsible manner and acting as an economic and cultural catalyst for the Commonwealth.
Since 1983, The Kentucky Center has served as a major arts education resource for Kentucky’s students and teachers, fully utilizing its own facilities and creating innovative outreach programs to further its statewide mission.
The Kentucky Center serves the educational needs of our community and state on multiple levels and through a variety of programs:
- Talented high school arts students through the Governor’s School for the Arts
- Professional Development for K-12 Teachers through the Arts Academies and Arts Institutes programs, as well as the Arts Education Showcase directory as a resource for teachers.
- The Kentucky Center’s Community Arts programs which include: Arts in Healing, ArtsReach, Gheens Great Expectations, and Programming Outreach.
