School Programs

The Kentucky Center for the Performing Arts has been a leader in arts education in Kentucky since opening its doors in 1983 by providing teachers with the tools they need to succeed through teacher training and resources.

Teacher Training

Each summer, The Kentucky Center trains teachers through hands-on, artist led seminars in the arts. They are taught how to teach the arts through creating and performing, as aligned with Kentucky curriculum standards, and how to make powerful connections to other subjects across the curriculum. The Kentucky Center’s professional development programs are: Arts Academies and Kentucky Institute for Arts in Education.

Resources for Teachers

The Kentucky Center’s Arts Education Showcase provides teachers with an online directory of quality arts education programs and artists available to schools in Kentucky. All artists and programs in the Showcase directory have been through an audition/interview process through a panel that includes teachers, artists, and presenters.
