Louisville Orchestra, Louisville Youth Orchestra, trumpeter Natalie Dungey

Presented by The Kentucky Center in partnership with the Louisville Orchestra, Louisville Youth Orchestra, and Kentucky Music Educators Association, with support from the Gheens Foundation and from Dr. Laman and Mrs. Julie Gray.

Performed by the Louisville Orchestra side-by-side with the Louisville Youth Orchestra, and featuring 14-year-old trumpeter Natalie Dungey, conduted by Jason Seber.

Fourteen-year-old American trumpeter Natalie Dungey came to international attention through her performance of the Arutunian Trumpet Concerto at the National Trumpet Competition that went through the trumpet world on YouTube when she was 10.  Since then she has been a featured soloist with Christopher O’Reilly on NPR’s From The Top (show #202) and performed the world premier of “Calling The Cavalry” by Hollywood film composer Mateo Messina written for her.  Upcoming performance is a world premiere trumpet concerto by John Zoltek with the Glacier Symphony in Whitefish Montana January 2013.  Natalie has performed as concerto soloist with the Bellevue Philharmonic, the Northwest Symphony, and the Indiana Wind Symphony.  She was also a featured soloist and guest artist at the Great American Brass Band Festival in Danville, Kentucky.  Natalie, who resides in Issaqua, Washington, has grown up in a musical family.  Her mother is a professional violinist and her father a professional trumpeter and band director.
