Lust and deception rule in the parallel plots of the Jacobean tragedy, The Changeling. A Spanish noblewoman wishes to rid herself of an unwanted suitor in order to marry another, but her father's steward demands a horrible price for helping her. Meanwhile, a young man pretends to be mad to get close to the wife of an asylum keeper. The Changeling rotates with Shakespeare's beloved comedy A Midsummer Night's Dream, in which four young lovers, along with a group of working men rehearsing a play, meet with fairy magic in the woods outside Athens.
