“Using the Arts to Ignite the Mind!” This is the mission of the new Dance Theatre of Harlem, on tour for the first time since its 2004 hiatus. Founded in 1969 by Arthur Mitchell, following the death of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., DTH rose from modest beginnings to become a major force in contemporary dance, theatre and arts education. With new artistic direction, dancers and choreography, Dance Theatre of Harlem is poised to help define the meaning of Ballet in the 21st century.
Featuring the world premieres of Gloria and When Love.
