A number of GSA alumni and faculty are involved in Moving Collective's performance, ID which runs February 17-19. GSA Faculty member,Theresa Bautista is the founder and artistic director of Moving Collective.She is also one of the choreographers for the performance and incorporated Shayla Lawson's (Creative Writing, 1999) poem, "I am a pretty girl" into the concert. Three other GSA alumni are dancing in this show, Amanda Rollins (Dance, 2004), Faryn Kelly (Dance, 2010) and Courtney Martin (Dance, 2008). http://www.movingcollective.com/2016-2017-performance-season/id-concert/

Savvy Elliot (Creative Writing, 2016) has written and directed a show titled 'Human' and it will be performed at Scott County High School in Georgetown, KY Friday 2/17/17 at 7pm (1080 Cardinal Dr.) It is free but donations will be accepted at the door for DSAC. Other GSA involved include: Evan Bentley (Drama, 2016) and Jack McElroy (Drama, 2016). Congratulations to these 2016 alumni!

Daniel Gilliam (Vocal Music, 1996) is a core members of A/Tonal, a champion of new music that has been featured on 90.5 WUOL’s Unheard series, LONGLEASH’s Loretto Project, and IU Southeast’s Ogle Center concert series. The group has collaborated with many other local artists including GSA alumnus,Chad Sloan (Vocal Music 1997). A/Tonal will be at the Kentucky Center on April 2. For the 3rd year, Arts-Louisville.com and Vault 1031 presented the Arts-Louisville.com/Broadway World Theatre Awards honoring excellence in local theatre. GSA alumna Caroline Glazier (Musical Theatre) won Best Youth (under 18) performance) for her role in Shrek the Musical  at the Youth Performing Arts School. Rachel White (Drama, 2001) won Best Short Play for her work Eyes in the Storm. And Adam Brown (Creative Writing 2006) and Alaina Mills (Musical Theatre, 2005)  returned to Louisville to present the 2017 Theatre Educators Award.

Two GSA alumni won 2017 Grammy awards. Pentatonix (Kevin Olusola, Instrumental Music, 2004) won Best Country Duo/Group Performance. Snarky Puppy (Zach Brock, Instrumental Music,1991) won Best Pop Instrumental Album.


Shannon Ruhl's (Architecture, 2008) project "Inflato Border," tied for first place among 152 entries in the international design competition "Building the Border Wall." http://buildingtheborderwall.com/inflatoborder
