Presented in partnership with the University of
Louisville and Jefferson County Public Schools.
The Kentucky Institute for Arts in Education (KIAE) is a two-week
professional development seminar for teachers
designed to involve participants in hands-on
dance, drama, music, and visual arts. KIAE
participants develop an awareness of how to
integrate the arts across the curriculum, explore
their own creative potential in the arts and create
works of art in a variety of disciplines.
Professional Artists who have worked in
educational settings serve as faculty for the
Institute. In addition to the outstanding faculty,
speakers and consultants provide information on
local and regional cultural resources, curriculum
development and integration of the arts as
prescribed by Kentucky school reform. An
arts-infused field trip using all four art forms
occurs on the fifth day of the Institute, providing
an exciting look at how to integrate the arts as
tools for learning.
Location: The Kentucky Center for the
Performing Arts (5th and Main Street in downtown
Louisville).
Dates: July 7-18 - 9 a.m. to 4:30 pm -
