Outreach Programs

Arts Education Showcases: For 25 years, educators, librarians, parents, and others have discovered quality, pre-screened arts education programs in all art forms by attending one of several Arts Education Showcases presented across the state. All artists in the Showcase program must meet artistic and educational criteria in an audition/interview process with a panel of educators, artists, and presenters. As it has become increasingly difficult for teachers to attend live Showcase events, The Kentucky Center has begun partnering with Kentucky Educational Television (KET) and the Center for Rural Development to bring Showcase information to teachers via television broadcasts on KET-ED (the Teachers’ Channel) and the Internet. Plans are underway for KET to broadcast Showcase performances and interviews on KET-ED in April and May of 2009. Last April, The Kentucky Center launched a new online Showcase Directory (www.artsedshowcase.org) which brings artist information, video performances and interviews, and a search engine allowing educators to find artists by art form, grade level, other subjects, and keywords. This website was developed for The Kentucky Center by the Center for Rural Development in Somerset where the performances and interviews are filmed.
