The Kentucky Center for the Performing Arts to Receive National Endowment for the Arts Grant

Award is among 1,023 Made Nationally

Louisville —  The Kentucky Center for the Performing Arts will receive a $15,000 award from the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) to present The Kentucky Center Integration of the Arts and Literacy Academy in June 2016 for Kentucky teachers. The NEA will make 1,023 awards totaling $74.3 million nationwide in this funding round. This is the second major grant announcement of fiscal year for the NEA.

Through its grant-making to thousands of nonprofits each year, the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) promotes opportunities for people in communities across America to experience the arts and exercise their creativity.

Kentucky Center President Kim Baker said, “Receiving a grant from the NEA provides both financial support and the affirmation that this project is deserving of this highly competitive grant award.”

NEA Chairman Jane Chu said, “The NEA is committed to advancing learning, fueling creativity, and celebrating the arts in cities and towns across the United States. Funding these new projects like the one from The Kentucky Center represents an investment in both local communities and our nation’s creative vitality.”

The Kentucky Center Integration of the Arts and Literacy Academy will provide 30 teachers from across the Commonwealth with 30 hours of Professional Learning that will help their students more fully engage in the study of literature through the integration of the Arts.  Our lead partners for this Academy are the Kentucky Department of Education and Brown University’s ArtsLiteracy Project.
