LOUISVILLE METRO GOVERNMENT GRANTS $24,000 TO THE KENTUCKY CENTER FOR THE PERFORMING ARTS TO SUPPORT ARTSREACH PROGRAM
LOUISVILLE, Ky.— The Kentucky Center for the Performing Arts recently received $24,000 from Louisville Metro Government. This funding will be used to support ArtsReach, one of The Kentucky Center’s education and community arts programs, which provides inspirational, educational, and esteem-building experiences to those with limited access to the arts.
This funding support from the External Agency Fund Grant Program will assist ArtsReach in empowering community centers to offer arts programming including the Studio violin program and Studio Dance Program, along with workshops, residencies, and special community projects.
“We are lucky to live in such a caring and giving community,” said Kentucky Center President Kim Baker. “This gift from Louisville Metro will make it possible for The Kentucky Center to educate even more communities through ArtsReach, and provide youth with interactive arts experiences.”
ArtsReach is a vital program for our community as it takes the arts to where youth live, play and attend school. The program works with community centers throughout Louisville to empower youth through studio arts instruction with professional artists in dance, violin and visual art. The program also provides youth with affordable tickets to performances, and the opportunity to perform on The Kentucky Center’s professional stages during the ArtsReach Annual Performing Arts Showcase.
Participants in ArtsReach learn new skills, expand their horizons and develop a sense of self, well-being and belonging. As the individual is empowered, the arts simultaneously build and strengthen the community.
